My device has been

LOST OR STOLEN

Please be aware that this site is not for reporting stolen devices. If your device has been lost or stolen, follow the steps below immediately.

STEP 1

If your device was stolen, contact the police.

There are several reasons why it is crucial to contact the local police if you know your device has been stolen:

  • There's a chance the police will be able to recover your device, and the sooner you let them know, the higher that chance will be.
  • Reporting provides you with an official record, which may be required for an insurance claim or reclaiming your device, if it is recovered.
  • Reporting is also a first step in protecting yourself against identity theft, should the thief attempt to access the information in your device.
  • Reporting the theft also contributes to broader crime statistics and helps the police identify areas and patterns, leading to better preventative measures.

STEP 2

Contact your wireless service provider.

Whether your phone has been lost or stolen, it is vital that you contact your wireless service provider as soon as possible. Once they are aware:

  • Your provider can block the device on their network and report it to the global block list, which carriers worldwide can access.
  • They can deactivate your SIM card to prevent thieves from making and receiving calls and text messages from your device, including protecting your accounts that use two-factor authentication.
  • By flagging the device as lost or stolen, should the thief try and sell the device, it can let the buyer know the status of that device. This may lead to device retrieval.
  • If you have device insurance or a protection plan through your wireless provider, reporting the theft can initiate the claims process, helping you get a replacement device more quickly.
